Brutal, disease ridden death-grind.

Ten years ago, and with different drum production, this would have been just another brutal South American death metal album. I'm reminded of Conquerors of Armageddon but with a healthy dose of brutal grindcore (think Exit-era Rotten Sound, but brutal!) in there too. Death metal significantly lost substance between 2000-2005 as a push for cheaper pro-tools production made it easier for any shmuck to record an album... Giving way to permutations of meaningless melodic death, extreme brutality, and technical wankery. If you enjoy the 'extreme brutality' side of things, with little variation in song tempo and crushing in-your-face bursts of crusted over death-grind... Inferis' will appeal to you. But they aren't a stupidly brutal band, this album has quite a bit of variation between the blasted-out sections.

This is one of those albums where I definitely like it but it doesn't offer much that can compete with recent efforts like Contra Rationem (in fact, check out the track "Nexion with the Infernal Spirits" and compare it with any song off of Ixaxaar). I can only repeatedly listen to 3-4 zippity-br00t4l albums per year and I'd include this one in that mix for sure. Good, and fun... but not unique or great.
